| Descripció i Metodologia: |
Pronunciation is often described as The Cinderella of Language Teaching. Many, teachers and students, regard it as difficult and therefore there is very little or no emphasis placed on this very important language skill.
This course will be devoted to aspects of pronunciation such as sounds, spelling, word stress, rhythm, features of connected speech and patterns of intonation and will provide a general methodology for the teaching of sounds. The course also looks at ways in which young learners can acquire and build on their own inventory of sounds. A number of activities have been designed for this purpose.
Hopefully all these activities and tasks will help primary school teachers become more confident when dealing with pronunciation in the classroom and that the application of these activities will contribute to a growing awareness of the role and importance of pronunciation in the language learning process as a whole.

1. Identify elements of good oral production.
2. Identify and apply techniques in teaching pronunciation
3. Give teachers practical experience in adopting pronunciation into their everyday teaching
4. Recognise student pronunciation errors and help them correct these errors.

| Continguts |
Monday through Friday; sessions from 9.00-14.00 / lab sessions every day
A compilation of course material will be available for every student at the beginning of the course.
During the course, there will be theory sessions (to provide the basic aspects of the English sound system, word and sentence stress, rhythm, connected speech and some basic intonation patterns) and practice sessions (to encourage teachers to create their own material to be used with primary school children).
